Mini Cooper S Countryman

Spring is in the air and it is celebrated in a *takes a deep breath* Light White MINI Cooper S ALL4 Countryman! This is my second shoot for BMWBLOG (click the link for the article and more photos) after shooting the BMW S1000RR. This MINI SUV may be an oxymoron but it’s still definitely a good looking vehicle and has a twin scroll turbocharger and all wheel drive to back up the more aggressive looks as well.

As usual I used my Canon 5D alongside my Sigma 20mm f/1.8 for images 1, 2, 3 and 5. My Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro was used for image 4 and my Canon 50mm f/1.4 for image 6. They were all lit via a single bare Canon 430EX II triggered wirelessly and exposures were merged together in Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Guu Sakabar

After falling in love over and over with Guu Izakaya on Church Street, I was very excited to check out their new location, Guu Sakabar, in the Annex on Bloor. This location still has my favourite classics like the Karaage (fried chicken) and Ebimayo (fried shrimp) but I was sad to see that the Cheese Bibimbap is not served at this location. To make up for things, the Salmon Carpaccio is THE BEST salmon I’ve ever eaten in my life.

I just purchased a Canon T2i HDSLR last week to shift some of my focus towards video and am loving it! It has shown me a new and exciting world of animated stills. I haven’t really done much editing since my high school media class so please bare with me as I crawl. Hopefully I’ll be running in no time! The entire video was shot with a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. What an amazing lens for on a crop body. Shout outs to Brian for letting me use his equipment! This video was entirely impromptu and unplanned so enjoy the spontaneity!

A Walk in the Park

Maya Adivi hit me up for a shoot after working with me for the Joy Couture shoot. She set me up with the stylist, Rae Szereszewski who created this beautiful dress. She had a concept with some dead scenery in High Park.

I used a mixture of one Alien Bee B800 with either a 22″ gridded beauty dish or parabolic reflector alongside a barebulb Canon 430EX II.

Red Dice Media

My BBM lit up on my Blackberry Torch about a shoot that Red Dice Media‘s Julius had in mind. The stylist, Doan Nguyen, sourced these two beautiful girls for the shoot. Big shout outs to Brian Han who did the behind the scenes video. This was the busiest weekend of my life with this one being the first of four shoots scheduled. Big ups to a great team!

The lighting setup was a single Alien Bee B800 in a 67″ Octobox boomed above. I used my Canon T1i instead of my 5D because the 5D needs its sensor cleaned! I used a 50mm f/1.8 lens for the shoot. The laptop I was using also had T1i drivers so I was able to tether it which helped.

Beauty Dished Out

It’s time to dish out yet another beauty and this time it’s a familiar face. Last week I picked up a 22″ beauty dish and boom for my Alien Bee and couldn’t wait to try it out! Of course, I turned to the beautiful Jayoung to model for me. We ended up cracking open some PBR and shot in her kitchen. We’re too classy for canned beer so we drank it out of a jar. She did a great job on her own hair and makeup and when we were done she decided to do her roommate’s hair and makeup and SHE took photos of her. I took a few of them together as well!

Joy Couture

I was lucky enough to be chosen to do Joy Couture‘s new line. We shot this on a fabolous rooftop in the trendy Kensington Market. I commend these two wonder ladies for sticking it out in 0º weather while we pushed through even between snow fall!

Kevin x Jayoung

It’s a collaboration of a collaboration! Jayoung and I waited in the freezing cold for 13 hours for the Lanvin x H&M release! Why not put all this fabulous new clothing to use by shooting it! This was definitely a challenge with the limited time (only a few hours and that included makeup and hair changes!) and equipment had but I’m happy with the results! Here is the video that inspired the shoot.
